ABOUT ME
Hi!! I am Shashank Aswathanarayana and I'm a music technologist, percussionist and researcher from Bengaluru, India. I'm currently an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Heritage Management and the School of Arts & Sciences at Ahmedabad University. My interdisciplinary research explores the relationship between the acoustics, architectural design, and religion of heritage worship spaces in Southern India. My research interests include archaeoacoustics, aural heritage, spatial/3D audio, psychoacoustics, soundscape studies, music and religious studies.

Prior to this, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow of Audio Technology in the Department of Performing Arts at American University, Washington DC working on a project titled, "Acoustics of Hindu Temples". This work garnered considerable interest in the community, leading to being featured on the journal's cover as well as in a podcast episode on Across Acoustics.

I received my PhD in Media Arts and Technology at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). I also hold a Masters degree in Music Technology from New York University and a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in India.
In my free time, I enjoy trekking, traveling, and playing sports.
